FEEDBACK 2003

FIRST OF ALL---OUTSTANDING. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE AND I CAME BY MYSELF CAUSE I DIDN'T THINK MY SON WOULD ENJOY IT. THE MUSIC, FOOD AND  EXSPECIALLY THE STAFF WERE THE BEST FOR THE 4 DAY FUN IN THE SUN EVENT.  WHEN PEOPLE FOUND OUT THAT MY LAST NAME WAS COMSTOCK THEY THOUGHT IT WAS MY AFFAIR AND TREATED ME LIKE A KING. WHAT A BLAST OF BLAST. MADE ALOT OF NEW FRIENDS AND ALLREADY HAVE MY TICKETS AND CAMPING SPOT FOR NEXT YEAR. THE COMSTOCKS WILL ROCK AT THE COMSTOCK NEXT YEAR THANKS AGAIN FOR A  GOOD TIME

MARK COMSTOCK
DENVER, COLO

Just wanted to let you all know that this is the best festival I have EVER been to!!!  I do the Morning Show for a big Classic Rock station in Colorado and we did a big promotion to take a bunch of listeners with us to the event.  We have ALREADY made plans for next year and the calls are still coming in to the radio station.  There are at least 20 of us that are making the trip back next year!  This event is one step away from becoming a VERY LARGE NATIONAL EVENT!!!  We can't stop talking about it!  THANKS FOR A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES!!!!!

If you missed one and two, DO NOT MISS 2004!

You guys FREAKIN ROCK!!!!

ROCK ON!!!

"Barnes in the Morning"

"Z-94.3FM"  Real Classic Rock

First of all I would like to say "THANK YOU"!!!!  Comstock Rock 2003 was the best time I have ever had in my life.  Not even in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the fun I would have, the things I would see, the amount of  beverages I would consume and the lack of sleep I would get.  Now don't
get me wrong, I love to party and stay up until the early morning hours but when you gotta sleep you gotta sleep.  I had ear plugs and they didn't even drown out the noise.  So next year I will be better prepared with ear plugs and sleeping pills(HA HA).  It's to bad you couln't break the campgrounds into sections such as non partiers, so-so partiers, and then your full fledge partiers.  It amazes me how some of the people just kept going and going.  Kinda like the energizer bunny.  You and all the people involed have created a spectacular event for the state of Nebraska, and I can say that I got to be aport of it.  The people I  met there were all super nice and your staff were all very friendly plus did an excellent job(hats off to the men and women in the first aid tent).  The weather was great except it was HOT!!  The waater trucks were greatly appreciated by on and all.  This was my first year there, however i will without a doubt be back in 2004.  Next year though I will be a little more knowledgeable as to what to bring(BIG super soaker squirt gun, and lights for the outside of my camper.  It gets awful dark out there at night). Plus  I will be a little smarter as to when and what to drink, I'm not as young as I used to be!!!

Now on to the main attraction, the concerts.  Every single one of the bands did an outstanding job.  There were a few that in my opinion did out shine the others.  DEF LEPPARD- The very best with a spectacular light show.  You need to try and get them back next year.  GEORGE THOROGOOD & CCR- INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE!!!!  The are both on the top of my favorit band list.  It was such an honor to see them live that it brought tears to my eyes.  JACKYL- Very good.  They did an excellent job of entertaining the crowd, very pleasing to the eye.  However, they have been there twice in a row so why not wait awhile before bringing them back.

As for the rest of the band they all did such a superb job I couldn't put rate them in any sort of order.  If i could pick the bands for 2004 it would include these:  BON JOVI, AEROSMITH, SAMMY HAGAR, ZZ TOP, ROLLING STONES, FLEETWOOD MAC, BOSTON, AC/DC, KISS, BAD COMPANY, VAN HALEN & STEVE MILLER.

Karen & Otis from GI, it was a pleasure to meet and hang out with you.  We had a great time and thanks for the BUD LIGHT top.  We never had a chance to get your # so please look us up.

Thanks again for giving me and everyone else who attened Comstock 2003 a memory we will never forget.  Keep up the great work and I'll see you in  2004.

Siri & Ken

Five of us made our first trip to sunny Nebraska.  We thoroughly enjoyed the rock events, the ability to get autographs and pics with some of the acts (although I wish some of our favorites were that way - i.e. Grand Funk Railroad).  We felt the best acts this year were (in order)
CCR
Grand Funk Railroad
Foghat
Little River Band
Walter Trout (awesome!!!)

The only disappointments we had were in Foreigner.  It was quite obviously the lead singer had lost his voice for singing the old songs.  No insult intended, but he needs to hang it up.  The backup band playing the tunes appeared to have "dumbed" down some of the songs as well.

Biggest positive - the people.  We couldn't believe how friendly everyone was.  No chairs were moved when they were left during breaks, water guns were used mercifully throughout, and everyone just enjoyed the music.

My only wish was came after seeing the lineup in Estes Park.  I wished Three Dog Night and The Grass Roots had been there and replaced Def Leppard and Foreigner.

We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to make the trek from Iowa again.  Just order some cooler weather next time!!
Thanks for a great time.
Dennis and friends

As with Comstock 2002, we had a great time at Comstock 2003. The bands were great. The people were great. And of course it was hotter than #$@%, but the water was cold. We look forward to next year. Will there be pictures of it, and fan quotes?

Keep up the good work.
The Carders
Roland, Fantastic show again this year, Can't wait for next year and already have tickets and campsite. Do the concert goers a HUGE favor and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bring Walter Trout back again! This guy is absolutely THE Most Electrifying Guitar Player that has ever graced the Comstock stage. If you are lucky enough to get him back Please inform the concert goers of JUST WHO HE IS!!! There was very little pub about he and his band. So many people I talked to just barley got a glimpse of him because they had never heard of him, had they known much, that stage area would have been PACKED!!! Please read enclosed article from a writer for Amazon.com

Once agian and thanks,

Lyle

P.S. Hopefuly My motorhome won't breakdown next year so that I have to be towed in. We were towed 39 miles by tow truck just to make it AND GLAD WE DID

WOW, WOW and WOW are the only words I can think of to describe last weekend. We could only be there Saturday and Sunday but that was long enough to know next year were going to spend the whole weekend and bring our freinds. The people were so friendly and ready to party (boy did we ever drink a LOT of beer). And the concerts were something else, Def Leppard was the best, but not to far behind was Foghat, B.O.C., Stepenwolf and even the regional bands Thudwinker and Hard Knox. That was really the best party we've been to in years and already looking forward to next year. Don't ever stop.

Your Colorado friends,

Jim and Sandy

Just wanted to let you know that this was our first year at Comstock and we had a BLAST!!!  It was Awesome.  We have not recovered yet, but are trying.  Def Leopard rocked!!!

Thanks for the great time.

Hello,
After attending this years Comstock Rock, my husband and I are definately planning a return trip next year. The whole experience was unbelievable and greatly exceeded all of our expectations. We had a great time....Thank You
We want to order our campsite and tickets now at the best prices. I was wondering when the map for the preferred campsites would be available on the website so that we can pick a spot for next year. If at all possible, could you e-mail me with this information if you have it.
In the meantime, I will keep trying to reach someone by phone.
Once again.....CONGRATULATIONS FOR A JOB VERY WELL DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Janice

PLEASE try and get Little River Band back again next year (and Jackyl too!)   We really enjoyed the rock festival this year and can't wait for next year's lineup to be announced.  We're also hoping you can get Sammy Haggar booked...I'm sure he'll put on one heck of a show for everyone!!

Thanks for all your hospitality...you guys do a great job getting everything put together to make the festival a success.  You make many people proud to be Nebraskans!!

Renee
I am the mother of 2 of the boys in an accident there Sat. night.  I understand the care they recieved was excellent, and being out of state a the time really helped me in knowing that.  I just wanted to thank all
and hope you can pass on this message.

Thanks again,
Michelle

Last year me and my current girlfriend attended comstock rock.  First of all LOVED IT.  We are both in our early 20's and grew up listening to that era of music, don't listen to anyone on the poll comments that are talking about newer bands, keep comstock real.
Secondly, Last year me and her stood on one of those banks under the stars while REO cranked out Cant Fight this Feeling.  We stood there with our arms around each other and cried.  At that exact moment we both knew that this was it.  So the favor I am asking is that when we come back this summer, if you may be able to find the time for an onstage marriage proposal?  It would be the perfect place and definatly unforgettable.  Thank you.

FEEDBACK 2002

Never got around to telling you guys how awesome Comstock was.  Had a little trouble with where my camper was parked the first night but you guys got us moved and got me and my friend backstage to see Tesla.  It was incredible.  Thanks a million and you can bet I'll be back in the front row next year all over again!

I will tell you this, that was the best rock-n-roll festival I have ever had the pleasure of attending in my 42 years on this planet.  The music, the food, the beer, the crafts and your security was fantastic.  I also have an excellent shot of the house on the hill that was taken on my second day there.  If you are interested in seeing this please let me know and I will mail you a copy since my scanner on my computer is out of commission.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
Debra Gregory

COMSTOCK ROCKS NEBRASKA

Recap Comstock Rockfest-2002-(sent only to those who know my weaknesses)

I have to begin by telling you that I will not be able to adequately describe what exactly took place just south of the Loup River and north of the village of Comstock, Nebraska this past weekend.  One man's fantasy became a reality as 30,000 rockers visited his ranch to listen to the greatest Rock venue the State has seen, ever.  105-degree heat on Friday and Saturday only preserved the energy until the evening performances of Telsa, Nugent and Skynyrd.  Waves of young adults (and some older ones) swayed to the tunes being presented by Grand Funk, REO and 38 Special.  The rhythm of the crowd swayed in unison at each new song.  It was a sight to see.    Billed as the Comstock Rock Party, that was exactly what it was.  Between feature performances, other local groups kept the Rockers rockin' in the two main tents that provided the beverages of moderation.  Polyester, Hard Knox and Niefeldt were given the opportunity to 'show their stuff' in front of a group that appreciated quality Rock & Roll.  No one that I spoke with came away disappointed.  Only the opposite version was factual.  People from 9 states readily spoke favorably of the venue, location, hospitality, politeness and behavior of the entire crowd.  Though the security was tight, procedures were handled adequately and professionally.  Participants were not being intimidated, threatened or mistreated by those who were responsible for the safety of the entire group.  It was an awesome event.    Were there some glitches?  Of course!  The heat alone (110-120 on the field during the day) added stress to those attending the crowd.  I too had to dismiss myself from the performances of Saturday evening (my only regret).  There was no escaping the heat and 48 hours of it put my body on notice in no uncertain terms.  A good night's rest at home, in comfort and air-conditioning, being attended to by my loving and supportive and understanding wife, was all I needed to return on Sunday to see the finale.  Skynyrd's Free Bird sent the fans home waiting for next year's symphony of music and people.

There are still a few rough edges to be worked out by Henry Nuxoll and his band of visionaries.  I have no doubt that they will address these issues and handle them one by one.  Personally, I do not know how they managed to accomplish what they have.  Speaking with a young lady at a ticket booth at the conclusion of the concert, she told me that she had begun on the Tuesday prior setting up for the event and would be working until the Wednesday following; cleaning, picking up and putting Mother Earth back to normal..Thank you for your gift!

To my acquaintance from Roy, Utah, who enjoyed photographing the groups as much as I did, I wish to say that it was great rockin' to REO with you for an hour.  I enjoyed the conversation and experience.  I wish I had better photos to send but I simply screwed up in film speed and lens selection.  To the four women from Texas who camped next to me, thanks for bedding down at a decent hour (2AM).  To my grandchildren, Elaina & Jack, I apologize.  I'm sorry that I will not be able to hear your sweet words in my elder years.  I'm sure I lost two year's worth of hearing at this event.  But, do not be fearful of telling your children that you grandpa was a 'rocker'.

In conclusion, I managed to put together a few notable occurrences that left their impression on me during the three-day affair.  I'll share them w/you.
Most Notable Moment:
     A.     Moral:     Lynyrd Syknyrd's wrap-up, Free Bird
     B.     Immoral:     Topless display at Jackal's "Signs"
Best t-shirt:    Comstock Rock - "If the music's too loud, you're too old"
Second Best Selling Beverage - Aqua Fina
Most popular Concessionaire - "Tattoos are us"
Most memorable Statements -
     A.     Professional - Skynyrd, "Occasionally, we do a gig and wonder, where the hell are we going?  Like, where the hell is Comstock?  Well, I gotta tell you Comstock, you got us pickin' our ass off".
     B.     Non-Profession - Henry Nuxoll"I would like to thank you all for attending Comstock Rock. And, let's not forget the Big Rock, who makes all things possible.  He is in control of everything that happens, even the weather.""Also, I would like to thank the 250 volunteers who makethis all happen.  To give you some idea what that means, the  population of Comstock is 110.  That means we have to work twice as hard as anyone else."
Longest Nap:   All Nebraska media, NTV & Omaha World Herald noted exceptions.
Personal Disappointment: Missing Saturday's performance of Nugent and Polyester/as well as messing up some excellent photo opportunities.

ps  I usually do not 'urge' people to pay attention the second time.  I've always figured that it was their loss.  (My children are well aware of this)  I will make an exception in this case.  This is a 'happening event'.  The possibilities will continue to grow in my opinion.  Whether or not you like music, whether or not your attention span has a range of 2 seconds, go to Comstock Rock 2003, sit down,  shut up and watch.  This is truly an event ladies and gentlemen..

Hello, and God Bless, the rock event held the past weekend was GREAT! The people involved in and around the festival were professional and friendly. Our party mentioned they were going to plan the trip out there next year...Also I might add the prices for food, ice and t-shirt were very reasonable. The people of Comstock and surrounding communities should Thank You for the
business you helped pull in. Thanks again and see
you guys next year.......

I would personally like to thank you for such a great time!

Never have i seen anything like it.  Comstock Rock was the best.

I guarantee we will be back for more Rock - N - Roll

We already have plans for next year and are bringing more people!

Southern Rock is the best and I am glad you got the ball rolling here in Nebraska.

One person I would really like to see is Steve Earle and the Dukes!  You want good music this is the man.

Lynard Skynard is also on the TOP of my List to see next year i hope!

AND ABOVE ALL  BRING BACK JACKYL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!!!

Sommer Brittain

I just wanted to let you know we were there for two of the three days of the rock festival and had an awesome time!!!  It was the best and we plan to come to next years.  Keep up the great ideas!!  I was wondering if t-shirts from the rock festival will be available via the web or can I get any somehow?  I totally forgot to buy them when we were there.  One more thing, is the Dempster House available during these festivals?  If so are all the rooms taken and what is the cost of the rooms.

Thanks!!

What an awesome event!!! My husband and I truly had a great experience. It was great seeing and hearing the bands that were there.  We thought it was great of Ted Nugent to take the time and meet his fans and actually take the time to talk to us and making us feel that what we had to say was important to him. The whole concert totally blew us away and we look forward to coming back next year.
Keep the R0CK in COMSTOCK!!!

Ron & Jean L.

I had an absolute blast at Comstock Rock!! Even though it was 135 degrees in my tent! I cant wait for next year please let us know as soon as possible when and who next years show will be. I will be there!!!!! Hopefully with a air conditioned camper, if not I will still be there. Thanks for the fun!!!!!!!! Barb Collins

Hi,

Can you please e-mail me the dates for next years Comstock Rock.  Also
the prices of concert ticket and camping.  THANKS.....  We had such a
GREAT time this year

We had a excellent time. It was hot as hell, but a great time. We are already planning on the next one. Hey all you that took pictures of me as jerry garcia send a copy to me please. I had fun with that. Jackyl was great, Lynyrd Skynyrd was the best. Tesla wasnt far behind. The water fights were very very refreshing. Thanks for all the cool water. I really think thats how we survived.LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR. ROCK ON!!!!!!!

What can I say but, that this event will be a mile stone in my concert going
career. One of the best songs I believe was riding the storm out, it was
perfect with the sun just going down, the clouds FINALLY coming out and the
wind picking up. You could not have picked a better song for that exact
moment. All three days me and my friend parked our butts in the front row
and stuck it out to the end, and i must say that 65$ I spent on my ticket
was well worth it; on that note I have to say thank you for the
great time and the lasting memories.
I will be waiting for next year.

Kyle

'AWESOME" doesn't begin to describe Comstock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I was there for all 3 days,  my 16 year olds first rock concert.  It was a blast.

The heat  well  you got used to that.  We were with friends from  Lexington (that is where we are  from).  One of my favorite parts is  when my son and I went to meet Ted.  What an AWESOME  person.  He  saw my son and said "WELL HELLO SON" and shook his hand, the look on my sons face was worth millions. And all he could say on the way back to the campground was "I  MET TED NUGGENT".   I  told him yes you did, something your dad never did. LOL

I only had 3 disappointments .  One I thought I was  actually going to meet Sabatian Bach, come to find out he is no longer with the group,  but hey Johnny sure looks like him from far away. Nice guy too.,
The other disappointment, not just for me, but for a lot of other people, was waiting for Vince Neil to sign autographs. He was one reason why I went.  And when we went to the tent were some of the bands were signing  autographs, and a gal came up to us and said Vince isn't signing.  That was very disappointing.

The other one is, we went up to the  house to get REO's  autograph, and we got 3 out of the 5. But the part that bothered me the most was, the lead singer and  one of the other guys, they looked right at us, when we asked, and walked to the bus,  then they were on the porch, we waited until they were done talking, and asked again, they looked right at us, then looked off to the stage. Very disappointing.

But what can I say, we did get  Donnie Vanzant  and Rickey (from  Lynard Skynard) autograph.  Thanks to a special person who got them for us.

Sunday night what a blast. Leaving Skynard for the last show ,  I don't know how AWESOME it could be.  I would like to  see them again next year, if they would come back.

I can hardly wait for next year. This time my husband will be with me, if not I will bring Scott again. He had a blast. I had more fun watching him Jam out with groups that I listened to in the 1980's.  Who would have thought, today's teens listening and jamming out to what their parents did 20 years ago.  "GOOD OLE ROCKIN ROLL".  The good stuff.:)

Thanks again Comstock rock. Thank you Mr. Nuxoll for opening up your ranch for has to be the best  thing since  Woodstock even though I was to young then to know  what was going on there). In my opinion, Comstock Rock has Woodstock beat by a long shot.

Hopefully next year we won't have as much immoral outbursts like we did this year. But that will happen at a Rock Concert.   Now I know what to do if I want some Mardi Gras beads, go and buy them from the venders, that way it may look like I flashed someone  but I didn't LOL.

Thanks Again for the best 3 days vacation a person could ever want.
